A must read for Biofuel searcher.. New Release of Biofuel Secrets ..A must read for for every US voter and concerned citizen.. challenges the reader to explore new possibilities and new mindsets that will ultimately be required if the world is truly ready to make a change.. amazon.com US only1) In Sheffield, Hargreaves Services subsidiary Rocpower has been trying to get permission to build a biofuel power station since 2009. We understand that they are now withdrawing their original planning application, following a large number of objections. Instead they have submitted a new one which contains very little information - it does not even say what type of fuel they want to burn. We fear that the new application might in fact be the former biofuel proposal 'in disguise': It is a power plant the same size, at the same site, and with the same Rocpower staff involved. Rocpower's sole official remit is to build and operate biofuel power plants.
Please go to www.biofuelwatch.org.uk/rocpowermar2011.php for more background information and to object to the new application.
If you already objected to Rocpower's last application, please take part in the new alert, too. And if you live and near Sheffield and would like to get involved in campaigning against Rocpower's plans then please get in touch with us.
2) Many people on this list will have been following the debate about the sell-off of English woodlands which the UK government had previously proposed. Now, Irish forest campaigners are asking for support with a petition against similar plans in Ireland. Over one million acres of land currently controlled by the 'public sector company' Coillte could soon be sold off, possibly to a Swiss finance company. This includes some of the last remains of native ancient woodlands and other important habitats and refuges of Ireland's native fauna and flora. Such a sale would also rule out future regeneration/restoration of native forests, many of which were converted to conifer plantations in recent decades.
