Two new reports about biochar

Biofuelwatch has published two new reports about biochar:

1. The final report "Biochar: A Critical Review of Science and Policy": http://www.biofuelwatch.org.uk/2011/a-critical-review-of-biochar-science-and-policy/ . This is an updated and amended version of the interim report published in June.  It includes a discussion of the peer-reviewed field studies of biochar, pointing out the scant data and mixed results with respect to soil carbon sequestration and claimed yield improvements. A policy chapter provides background on biochar policy developments, including the push to include agriculture and soils into carbon markets.

2.  "Biochar Fund Trials in Cameroon: Hype and Unfulfilled Promises", together with Cameroonian researcher Benoit Ndameu:http://www.biofuelwatch.org.uk/2011/biochar_cameroon/ .  This provides an assessment of the impact of field trials undertaken in Southwest Cameroon, on participating subsistence farmers.

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass.
