"Despite being banned in Europe, the world's largest agrochemical producer Syngenta continues to aggressively market its Paraquat herbicide in the Global South Thousands of farmers – mostly in the poor Global South – have already died due to use of the products; thousands upon thousands more have been gravely poisoned. A scientist criticizing Syngenta was being offered money in return for silence. In the US Syngenta is accused of having contaminated drinking water."
Syngenta is also a big player in bioenergy, with investments in GM maize and soya and in jatropha. And is an active participant in the Round Table on Responsible Soy.
A very worthy candidiate for the Public Eye 2012 award.
