Hi, state owned Swedish Energy company Vattenfall announced the end of it's biomass project in Liberia on Friday. The reasons: There is not enough timber, and the timber is not cheap enough. And the project received criticism from environmentalists. Rainforest Rescue made amoung other two protest actions against Vattenfall's Liberia project, the last one is here: https://www.rainforest-rescue.org/mailalert/590/berlin-vattenfall-to-import-tropical-timber-for-use-in-biomass-fired-power-plants The "alternative": "We are in the process of negotiating new contracts," says Vattenfall spokesman Hannes Hönemann. Now to procure the necessary timber they look more toward Canada and the United States. Supply shortages are not to be feared.
