[biofuelwatch] Indonesian President in London: Lunchtime demonstration on 31st Oct

Dear all

There will be a peaceful demonstration opposite Downing Street (on Richmond Terrace, London, SW1A) from 1- 2:30pm on October 31st, 2012 to mark the State Visit of Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (known as SBY) to the UK

Down to Earth will be joining Survival International and a number of other organisations, including Amnesty International and Tapol to protest against issues including agrofuels, mining, human rights violations in West Papua and to challenge the British Government about its training of specialist anti-terror police who have been implicated in the killing of Papuan leaders.

If you are planning to attend please email Clare McVeigh (DTE) at or Sophie Grig (Survival International) at so they can get an idea of numbers.

It would be great if people can raise the destruction that palm oil plantations from agrofuels are having on people and ecosystems in Indonesia, please do get in touch with Clare if you are interested and spread the word!

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass.
