[biofuelwatch] USDA loan to Fulcrum for biobased jet fuel

USDA has awarded a $105 million loan to Fulcrum Sierra Biofuels, almost 40 % of the cost of a $266 million facility to convert waste into jet fuel. Feedstock arrangements are in place and Fulcrum will receive it at zero cost. 147,000 tons of jet fuel will be produced. Cathay Pacific has invested in Fulcrum and committed to source 375 million gallons of 'sustainable' aviation biofuel over 10 years.

USDA could soon announce additional loan guarantees to other biorefining projects - in Iowa, N Carolina and Oregon. .
