[biofuelwatch] Boeing Conducts First Flight with 'Green Diesel'

Boeing has completed the world's first flight using 'green diesel'. A 787 flew with 15% green diesel in one engine. Green diesel is made from vegetable oils, 'waste' cooking oil and 'waste animal fats'. With production capacity of 3 billion litres, green diesel could supply as much as 1 % of global jet fuel demand. Greenhouse gas emission reductions of 50-90% are claimed, compared to fossil fuels.

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass.
