[biofuelwatch] Alaska Airlines + NARA to produce biojet made from 'forest residuals'

Alaska Airlines is teaming up with the Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance (NARA) to produce biofuel made from forest 'residues'. A demonstration flight is planned next year, using 1,000 gallons of the fuel.

NARA is focussing on what it calls 'post-harvest forest residuals' - treetops and branches that are often burned after the harvest. It is a 5-year project to facilitate development of biojet and bioproduct industries in the Pacific Northwest.

Biofuels are a wide range of fuels which are in some way derived from biomass.
