Gevo Inc. claims to have made a breakthrough in its fermentation technology enabling it to produce isobutanol from cellulosic feedstocks such as wood 'waste'. The fuel is to be used in the first ever test flight usign fuel derived from wood

Currently Gevo makes isobutanol from corn.
