We're mobilising towards the #AxeDrax 2016 AGM protest in London, in April, and we'd also like to tell you about a event this Monday 14th at SOASin London.
In April, we're targeting Drax's AGM, the UK's biggest coal burner and world's biggest biomass burner, for the 4th year running. On Monday evening, we're hosting two landowners from North Carolina in the southern US, who are speaking about the terrible impacts being felt in their forests because of Drax's biomass sourcing.
There's more information below on how to get involved in this year's #AxeDrax protest, and there are still spaces available for the event on Monday evening. It would be great to see you at either or both of these events!
We plan to gather in the city of London, at 11:00 on the day of Drax's AGM. The most likely date is Wed 20th April, but we will confirm this as soon as Drax have announced the date. Together we can #AxeDrax – please join us in a protest outside the annual Drax shareholder AGM. Let's gather in solidarity and demand cleaner, greener energy generation systems. For more information on the protest and how to get involved, visit our #AxeDrax campaign page, and connect on social media here.
What's actually happening in US forests? Two United States landowners are coming to the UK on March 14th to share with us their stories of the destruction of forests in North Carolina. This free event is an opportunity to meet with forest campaigners Jack Spruill & Terri Moffat, to hear their experiences, and discuss how we can best come together to the stop forest destruction that is inextricably linked to UK biomass power stations. The event will take place at SOAS, 19:00-21:00. Full details here.
