Interested in writing letters to challenge biased articles on biomass?
Happy New Year!
We are excited about another year of campaigning against polluting and forest-destroying biomass electricity. This year, we hope to raise much greater public awareness that cutting down forests to burn wood in polluting power stations is not green energy and doesn't deserve subsidies. Challenging biased media reporting will be vital for this.
We are therefore looking for people who're interested in helping to counter industry propaganda in the media - including in local papers - by challenging biased articles through letters to the editor.
Dirty energy companies, including those investing in destructive biomass, often use local media as a platform for greenwashing and legitimising their activities. For example, press coverage about Drax in the North-East of England in particular has been overwhelmingly in their favour. Letters to the editor, written by residents in the locality or region, can help to correct some misleading company claims, and alert other readers to the problems with burning millions of tonnes of wood in power stations.
If you are interested in writing letters when required in order to counter misleading claims about biomass, then please get in touch with us. We will be happy to provide you with:
·Links to articles you may want to reply to;
·Facts and evidence which you can use in your letters.
Please note that we are offering support for individuals to write letters in their own name, rather than on behalf of Biofuelwatch.
If you are interested in helping us with this, please contact us on email@example.com .
